Frequently Asked Questions
It's a 15 to 20 minute conversation, not an assessment. You don't need to prepare anything in advance. We'll talk about what's brought you here, what you've tried before if anything, and whether the approach seems like a good fit for where you are right now. You'll have the chance to ask anything you want about how sessions work. Nothing is decided or committed to on the call itself.
Full pricing for all programmes is on the Sessions and Pricing page. Programmes start from €220. Everything is self-contained with no hidden extras.
A fair question. What you are paying for is a structured, one-to-one programme that gives you a set of skills you can actually use. People who complete the programme typically report sleeping better, reacting less intensely to stress, recovering faster after difficult situations, and feeling less at the mercy of their own nervous system day to day. These are not abstract wellness outcomes. They are the result of learning specific, evidence-informed techniques and practising them consistently with structured support. You also get guided audio recordings and written materials to use between sessions and keep afterwards. One-to-one work costs more than an app subscription because it is adapted to you, delivered live, and held accountable by another person. That accountability is a significant part of why it works where self-directed attempts often do not.
A structured one-to-one programme delivered live over video call. Each session follows a clear format: grounding, a guided practice, and a short reflection. All sessions run approximately 45 minutes. There are two pathways: the breathwork and mindfulness programme combines Buteyko-informed breathing techniques with mindfulness practices, while the mindfulness-only programme focuses entirely on attention training, body awareness, and nervous system regulation without any breathwork. Sessions are spaced weekly or fortnightly depending on what works for you.
Yes, and that's where most of the real change happens. Each session ends with a simple practice to carry into your week, usually five to ten minutes a day. Nothing complicated. The idea is to build familiarity with what we've covered so it actually becomes useful in daily life, not just something that happens on a call. You won't be marked on it, but the more you engage with it between sessions, the more you'll get out of the programme.
No. This is non-clinical coaching, facilitation, and education. There is no diagnosis, no treatment, and no working through your past. The work is skills-based and practical.

That said, for many people it works particularly well alongside therapy. If you are already working with a therapist for mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, or emotional regulation difficulties, breathwork and mindfulness can complement that work directly. Your therapist works on the underlying material; these sessions give you practical tools for managing your nervous system in between. The two approaches often reinforce each other well.

There are situations where it would not be appropriate to proceed, and those would be identified on the screening call. But for most people who are already engaged in therapy, this is an addition to your support, not a replacement for it.
Both programmes are 45 minutes per session and run over six sessions. The difference is in the method. The breathwork and mindfulness programme uses Buteyko-informed breathing protocols for stress, sleep, focus, and regulation, combined with mindfulness practices. It is more physically active and works directly with the breath as a tool. The mindfulness-only programme focuses on attention training, thought awareness, and building a steadier relationship with your nervous system, with no breathwork involved. It suits people who find breathwork overwhelming, destabilising, or simply not their thing. If you're unsure which is right for you, that's exactly what the screening call is for.
The breathwork taught here is functional and evidence-informed, not extreme. Techniques like box breathing, the physiological sigh, and extended exhale work are the same methods used in clinical rehabilitation, sports science, and stress management programmes. They are gentle, controlled, and nothing like intensive hyperventilation-style approaches.

If you have a cardiac condition, epilepsy, or are in the later stages of pregnancy, a quick conversation before booking is a good idea. Most people with common health conditions find this kind of breathwork completely accessible. If in any doubt, check in with your GP alongside reaching out to me.
This is worth raising on the screening call rather than assuming it rules anything out. The breathwork techniques used here are functional and gentle, not intensive or cathartic, but breathwork can occasionally surface difficult material and it isn't the right starting point for everyone. The mindfulness-only programme is specifically designed for people who need a steadier, less activating approach, and it is trauma-aware and choice-based throughout. If you have a significant trauma history or are currently working with a therapist on trauma-related material, bring that to the conversation and we'll work out what makes sense for your situation.
None. The programme is specifically designed for people who've never done anything like this before, including people who've tried meditation apps and found them useless, people who are sceptical, and people with ADHD or anxiety who've been told mindfulness doesn't work for them. The approach is practical and low-pressure.
Yes, and it's a significant part of who these sessions are designed for. Standard mindfulness instruction often assumes a level of sustained attention, stillness, and sensory comfort that doesn't work for a lot of neurodivergent people. The approach here is adapted: practices are shorter, more grounded in physical sensation, and you're always given options rather than a single prescribed method. If you have ADHD, autism, or a related profile, that's worth mentioning on the screening call so sessions can be set up in a way that actually suits how your brain works.
Google Meet. Nothing to download, no account needed. You'll get a link before each session. Sessions are not recorded by default, but if you'd find that useful it can be arranged.
Life happens. Sessions rescheduled with at least 48 hours notice are changed at no charge. Requests with less than 48 hours notice are handled on a case-by-case basis. Sessions can be rescheduled within the programme window without issue.
Yes. The six sessions don't have to run consecutively. If you need to step away for a week or two, that's fine. Just let me know.
If you need to cancel partway through, you'll receive a refund for any sessions not yet used, calculated on a pro rata basis. Sessions already delivered are not refundable, which is standard for any live one-to-one service.

For missed sessions or cancellations without 48 hours notice, I reserve the right to consider that session used with no refund obligation. I'll always look at circumstances on a case-by-case basis, but I can't guarantee a replacement session or refund in those cases. If something comes up, get in touch as early as you can and we'll find a solution.
Single sessions are available to clients who have completed at least one three-session programme. They're designed for review, troubleshooting, or refreshing skills you've already built, not as a starting point for new clients. If you're new to this work, the right place to begin is one of the core programmes. Full details are on the Sessions and Pricing page.
Once the screening call is done and you're happy to go ahead, the typical lead time is around one week depending on availability. Get in touch and we'll find something that works.
Not at all. Everything is delivered online. We'll sort a time that works across time zones when we book in.
That's expected and completely normal, especially early on. Every session gives you the option to stop, shift, or change what you're doing. Nothing is compulsory within a session. If something isn't working for you, we'll adjust it.
Yes, and it's a perfectly reasonable place to start. Low Tide Calm is a free nervous system regulation app I built for ADHD, autistic and neurodivergent people, covering breathing exercises, crisis support, body doubling, sensory tools and more. No login, no account, works on any device right now at lowtidecalm.ie/app. The Low Tide Calm Shop also has downloadable resources including guided meditation and breathwork audio recordings, a guided journal, and a nervous system toolkit for the workplace. Everything is designed to work on its own or alongside the live programme.
Yes. Custom guided meditation recordings are available to commission through the Low Tide Calm Shop. You tell me what you need: a specific situation, anxiety trigger, recurring difficulty, or a style of guidance that suits how your brain works, and I'll record it for you. Turnaround is five working days. If you want to get a feel for the approach first, the free Low Tide Calm app at lowtidecalm.ie/app is a good place to start.
Both are coming soon. Reflexology and Indian head massage will be available for in-person appointments in Wicklow Town. If you'd like to be notified when bookings open, drop me an email at cian@lowtidecalm.ie and I'll be in touch.
Yes. Reiki is offered as a separate modality. You can find full details on the Low Tide Reiki page.
Somewhere reasonably quiet where you won't be interrupted. A good headset. Some water (or tea). A decent internet connection. That's it. No equipment, no special clothing, no prior reading.
